TGK Agro supplies rice and pulses to importers, wholesalers and repackers in Qatar directly from India. We have no office in Doha: your consignment is cleaned, graded and packed at our facility in Akola, Maharashtra, documented by our own export desk, and shipped from JNPT, Mumbai to Hamad Port. The sailing time depends on the service booked, and we confirm it with the booking.

What Qatar asks of imported food

Imported food is controlled by the Food Safety Department of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). These are the points that decide whether a container of rice or pulses clears without delay:

  • Registration before the first shipment. The Qatari importer and each product must be registered in the MoPH electronic system, Watheq, and the product needs a valid registration number before it is imported for the first time. Registration is done by the importer in Qatar, with details that we supply.
  • Arabic on the label. Labels must be in Arabic, or in Arabic and English, and show the product and brand name, country of origin, the packer's name and address, net weight in metric units, and the production and expiry dates.
  • Dates printed on the bag. Production and expiry dates have to be printed on the pack when it is filled. A date added later on a sticker is not accepted.
  • Remaining shelf life. Goods are expected to arrive with at least half of their shelf life remaining, so tell us your date requirements before we pack.
  • Certificates. An official certificate from the Indian authorities travels with every consignment, and a Certificate of Conformity from an MoPH-approved inspection body is required for some food categories. If your clearing agent asks for a separate health certificate or for embassy legalisation, tell us before the container is stuffed.

Halal certificates apply to meat and products of animal origin, not to rice and pulses. Rules change, so your clearing agent's current checklist always takes priority over this page, which was last checked in September 2026.

Who does what

  • You, the importer: the Watheq registration of your company and of each product, and approval of the label.
  • We, the exporter: the product details and specification for your registration, bags printed to the approved label in Arabic and English with the dates on the bag, the export documents below, and pre-shipment inspection by SGS if you ask for it.

What we supply to Qatar

Basmati rice (1121 and 1509, as sella, steam or white), non-basmati rice, Kabuli chana by count, and dals for wholesale and retail packing. Each product page carries the full specification, and the Kabuli chana count guide explains the sizes. We also ship cottonseed cake and copra cake for feed; animal feed follows different import rules from food, so ask us before you plan a feed shipment.

Packing and minimum order

Bags of 10, 25 or 50 kg, plain or printed under your brand. Minimum order is one 20-foot container unless agreed otherwise. Payment by irrevocable letter of credit or wire transfer, on FOB, CFR or CIF Hamad Port terms.

Documents with every consignment

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Bill of lading
  • Certificate of origin
  • Phytosanitary certificate and fumigation certificate
  • Product test report; pre-shipment inspection by SGS on request
  • APEDA registration on every rice consignment (RCMC/APEDA/27827/2025-2026)
