About Kabuli Chana
Kabuli Chana is the large, cream-coloured chickpea used for hummus, salads and canning. India grows it mainly in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra as a winter crop harvested from February to April. Trade prices depend heavily on seed size, quoted as a count such as 44/46 or 58/60. A lower count means larger seed, which earns a premium over this market average.
